WHAT IS THE UNIVERSITY CLUB? The University Club is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation founded in 1907 serving the mission of the University of Illinois by furthering good relations between the university and the Champaign-Urbana community, and fostering good fellowship among members. |
WHAT KINDS OF ACTIVITIES ARE THERE FOR CLUB MEMBERS? Each year the Club hosts dinner-dances from September through June at the Champaign Country Club for its members and their guests. These events feature live music, an elegant setting, excellent food, and a friendly atmosphere. WHO CAN BE A MEMBER? At least two-thirds of the members must be affiliated with the university, defined as active or retired university faculty or staff and their spouses. All university-affiliated persons are eligible for active membership. Area residents with no university affiliation are also eligible for membership. Non-university members are accepted so long as they number no more than 1/3 of the total membership. Target membership for the University Club is 200 to 240. |
